Dr. Tom Yingling was raised in Clearfield, PA. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Gettysburg College, his Doctorate in Dental Surgery with high honors from Temple University School of Dentistry where he was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, National Dental Honor Society. He completed an internship and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD where he received extensive training in orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint disorders and facial trauma. Rotations included the University of Maryland Hospital and the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He is a Board Certified Surgeon and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is one of the first oral surgeons in the state of Pennsylvania to become a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesia.
Dr. Yingling has devoted his professional career to all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery practice with special interests in the treatment of impacted teeth, surgical root canal therapy, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, and delivery of the highest quality sedation and anesthesia services. To keep abreast of the latest developments in OMS, Dr. Yingling has always exceeded the continuing education requirements of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Yingling has a long history of leadership in the medical community. He has served multiple terms on the executive board of the Lancaster County Dental Society and was president in 1998. Additionally, he was president of the Medical Bureau of Lancaster; he is currently president-elect of the Middle Atlantic Society of OMS; Dr. Yingling serves as secretary of the University of Maryland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Alumni Association; he is also an office anesthesia examiner for the PA State Board of Dentistry.
In the Lancaster community, Dr. Yingling has served on the Board of Directors of the United Way and as the United Way fund-raising chair for the Dental Society. The Lancaster County dental community received national recognition for its giving under Dr. Yingling’s leadership.
Dr. Yingling’s hobbies include running, biking, golf, shooting sports, and fishing. He has completed 5 marathons, including the Boston Marathon, and has logged over 17,000 miles on his legs! He has been married for 31 years to his wife, Barb, also a Gettysburg College graduate. They have three children: Katie, Chris, and Tim. Their family loves the Lancaster community and the quality of life the area offers.
